Save The Eyes With Glasses

Efek menjelang umur 25kah? Apa gw kena rabun ayam? aaaahh!! Tidaaaakk #selebay mungkin.

Yak, dengan campuran bahasa inggris, bahasa korea yang apa adanya dan ditambah bahasa Tarzan sebagai bahasa universal, mulailah gw cek kondisi mata : pake kacamata yang aneh banged bentuknya (sempet-sempetnya gw minta difotoin, hehehe), disuruh liat tulisan di dinding terus disuruh baca. Daaan keluarlah hasilnya, mata gw minus ternyata! Yang kiri - 0.7 yang kanan - 1. Hiks, hiks.

Tetep yah gaya, heraaan!

It's not comfortable i think to use it whole day.

Gw : Oy, oy, kacamata baru niiih! Sambil pamer tengok kanan, tengok kiri

Pacar : Manah? (liat webcam sepenuh hati dan berkomentar..) ..... Kaya ibu-ibu yah..

Gw : Berenti nengok, diem sambil manyun

Pacar : Eh, bentar-bentar, kalo lo nyengir behel lo keliatan, terus pake kacamata, mirip banget sama Betty La fea! Hahahaha!

Gw : tut.. tut.. tut.. tut.. tut.. tut.. tut... (Langsung matiin Skype)

Yah, gini nih kalo punya pacar yang diem-diem tapi sekali ngomong berasa lagi diiris pake pisau karatan terus ditaburin garem sama jeruk nipis

Impulsive Buying

Hasil impulsive buying kemarin :

Favorit gw yang sebelah kanan :D
Tadaaa!! 3 buah puzzle 1000 dan 500 pieces. Totally impulsive! Kalo beli 1 4,000 won.

Hahahaha! Bener-bener bakal butuh waktu 2 tahun ini kayanya..

Volunteering at Seoul Grand Park Zoo

I applied to be an volunteer in Seoul Grand Park Zoo to spend my weekend. Usually on saturday i asked (well, insist actually :p) my Korean friend to taking me out and then i have free time on sunday. So, before i get rotten in dormitory just download (Fyi, internet speed in Korea really awesome, i can download 1 movie with size around 700 MB just in 15 minutes!) and watching movies, i applied to be an volunteer. And as my guess before, i'm the only one foreigner and the oldest volunteer! My job not really hard actually, because of my previous experience mostly working with primate's stuff, they put me in Great Ape Section. My job for now are to taking care a group of Lemur especially when they stay outside of cage from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and visitors can see them closely.

Lemur is one of edemic primate in Madagascar. The species in this zoo is Ring-tailed Lemur, because their talis looks like a couple of black and white ring. Very cute! The zoo's management increasing habitat enrichment for animals to make it similarly with their genuine habitat. And when Lemurs stay outside of cage, my job is to watch and warn visitors to do not touch them. It's a little difficult on the first time because my Korean languange still poor but it's a good chance to improving my Korean :)

Thanks a bunch to others volunteer that really helping me to do my tasks :D

Me Against Answer Sheets

Today, i struggle with a bunch of answer sheets from mid-term exam!

As freshmen, we have to assist our professor's lecture, it called Teaching Assistant (TA). So me and Eunae being a TA for Professor Jang's class : Behavior of Animals for undergraduate students. Our job is simply enough actually, we just have to prepare the class before it start, check the absence, update the announcements from Professor in Cyber campus and so on. But, FYI, in fact this is one of the popular class for undergraduate students, because the lecture give in english (so a lot of exchange and international students taking this class) also they say Behavior of animals is an interesting subject. So this is really really a huge class and attend by around 300 students!!

Then then the big job is coming : we have to check 300 answer sheets of students from their mid-term exam! 300 sheets!! i repeat 300 sheeeets!! (drama queen mode : on) Ehehehe. Then, i'll check 150 sheets and Euane'll check the rest of it. Seriously, seeing the same alphabets, same answer and same task repeatedly makes me feeling headache in a couple of minutes and as addition, it makes me really really hungry right now!

Indo, for India or Indonesia?

Gw : Autis mainin sumpit sama sendok

Bapak-bapak : Agashi (miss in korean) where do you come from?

Gw : (dengan senyum semanis mungkin) I'm from Indonesia

Bapak-bapak : aaah, Indooo! i'd been there before!

Gw : Really?!

Bapak-bapak : Ya! It's really beautiful!

Gw : (mulai sumringah gara-gara dia muji Indonesia! hehehe)

Bapak-bapak : Umm, but i forgot name of that place..

Gw : Umm, Jakarta? Bali? Lombok? (dan gw nyebutin beberapa nama kota lainnya sampe berbusa)

Bapak-bapak : No, no, no! umm,, (mikir sekian detik) aaah!! Darjeeling!

Gw : diam seribu bahasa sambil mikir; dimane tuh?

Bapak-bapak : That's place has so many beautiful tea plantations, the tea is really famous! Do you know that place ?

Gw : RING A BELL!! Jiaaah!! Sigh..

Pelajaran moral no. 28 : Lain kali make sure kalo ada orang bilang pernah ke Indo, tanya dulu maksudnya India apa Indonesia? Bombay apa Jakarta? ish,, ish..

A Day To Celebrate

When i arrived in my dorm tonight, i saw these two cute eggs on my mailbox, each for me and my roommate. Everyone got it i think, because the mailbox full with eggs. And i remember today is Easter day, so that's explain eggs inside the mailbox and i already ate it as dinner tonight. Hamhamham!

And i remember one more thing, April 21st in Indonesia celebrate today as Kartini's day.  Kartini known as a pioneer in the area of women's rights in Indonesia. She was born when Indonesia still under on The Dutch Colony. She had desire to improve the conditions of indigenous women, who at that time had a very low social status. She take a first step toward achieving women's equality by opening a school for girls. With aid from the Dutch government Kartini established the first primary school in Indonesia especially for native girls regardless of their social standing.

Pict from here
Every school from kindergarten to high school level celebrates Kartini Day by having a flag ceremony and singing the Ibu Kartini song and usually several schools have special events like for girls wear a costume like Kartini, with kebaya and batik cloth. Last time i wore this traditional costume was when i was an elementary school's student i think.

I hope nowadays we will still remembering her and her merits. She's not only a feminist who elevated the status of women in Indonesia, she was also a nationalist figure, with new ideas who struggled for independence on behalf of her people :)

Beondagi - A Food Challenge

One of my friend who crazy about Korea told me to try any Korean snacks. Yes i had, since there are a lot of food stalls around my campus. I like ddeokbokki (떡 볶이), it is kind of rice cakes in cylindrical shape, cooked and soaked in a spicy chili sauce, a little bit spicy and the taste's quite good.

Pic. from here
But, i can't stand for this kind of snack : it called Beondegi, boiled silkworm pupae! Yeah, sounds like Fear Factor when you have to eat it. You can find it easily on the streets vendore with the cheap price, around 1,000 won (IDR 8,000) and you can smell it even from far away. Many Korean people likes it because it contains high nutrients and proteins. It is one of the oddest food i've ever eaten! I've never been able to finish an entire cup, but just a few, eerr maybe just one, because when it go through into my mouth, touch my tongue, bite and chew it, yeakks, the taste is sooo weird! Anyway, everyone has their own opinion about Beondagi. But i suggest to whoever has a plan to visit Korea, please don't forget to try Beondagi :)

Beondagi, anyone?

Shoes Disaster

Lately, i'm thinking to buy a new shoes, because my lovely Converse should be retired soon, and then the rest is just my pompom flat shoes. I won't wear this shoes everyday! it is really feminime for me and i'm still not confident enough to use kind of this girl shoes, yeah, i'm odd. That's why i have plan to buy a new shoes. So, i prepare the budget, survey around Ewha as one fashion district in Seoul and try to get a pair of shoes. But i forget one thing, Almost all of Korean girls really like high heels. Really! you can saw it everywhere, also at every shoes stores around Ewha. It is a disaster for me!

A DISASTER!!
And then my friend suggested me to searching it online, in Gmarket, it is the top commerce site in South Korea, kind of E-bay i think. So, i registered for it and i've guessed not easy to register anything in here. I have to repeat it almost 4 times! and then it checked my Alien Registration number, etc, etc. Fuiih.

Pict from here

Oh, you still have to be carefull to buying something online, because you don't know the real quality of it. So it takes time for me to choose the right one and do you know how can i decide the right shop? Usually every shops has their own page in Gmarket, then in the bottom side of page you can see number of selling, buyers testimonies and the seller info. In fact all of the testimonies in Korean, then i need help from Mr.Google to figure it out. Hehehe. One benefit to buy stuff online is you get cheaper price than in the real store.

I want to buy a pair of shoes like angkle boots, or Doc-Marten boots, you know with thick sole, upper shape, something like that. And finaly,Taraaaa!! Here it is, my first shoes in Korea. Hehehe, and i love it so much! it has a zipper on the side, so it easy to wear and the shape not too masculine nor too feminime with the cheaper price (25,000 won) than in stores (35,000 - 40,000 won) Overall, i heart this shoes \(^0^)/

Adorable Sakura

I think Sakura or Cherry Blossom can be find only in Japan but i was wrong, luckily i can find it also in this country, Ya, Korea. Just my prediction, maybe when Korea was colonized by Japan, they also brought Cherry Blossom's seeds to here. Cherry Blossom in Korea has different color with in Japan, in here, it has pinkish white color. Eunae, one of my friend suggested meto to go to Yeouido Park, near from Han River as a best spot to enjoy splendor Cherry Blossom.

But before go to Yeouido Park, i still can enjoying the beauty of Cherry Blossom in my campus! Even from my balcony in dormitory! because there are several Cherry Blossom's trees across my dormitory. What a beautiful scenery, when you wake up and look at through the window and you see blooming Cherry Blossom along the street. Wow!

This afternoon, i changed my usual route from dormitory to the lab. That way a litle bit way round actually, but because today i had a plan to captured one of cheery blossom tree near from auditorium i should took that way. In fact, i came not in the right time and not in the right day :( I passed that auditorium on the lunch time when several students was reading a book and then few seconds later a group of kindergarten students and their teachers decided to took a picnic under the cherry blossom's tree! Hahaha!

So, i just stood beside the Cherry Blossom's tree and finally tooked pictures of these cute kids. And you know, when they walked through me, with slyly they said : 안녕하십니까 (Annyong Hasimnikka) It was a really polite greeting expression, even not often use by Korean people and it was my first time got a greeting like that. Hehehehe. So happyyyyy!
